MICHURA---John G., 73, East Taylor, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2021, at home. Born March 28, 1948, in Johnstown, son of John W. and Pauline A. (Urbas) Michura. Preceded in death by parents, sister, Sharon E. Jones and step-grandson, Jacob Whiteford. Survived by wife, Emma “Dolly” (O’Brien), to whom he was married for 13 years; daughters, Heather (Ross) Miller, Harrisburg; and Tamara (Garrick) Kruis, Altoona; grandchildren, Alyssa, Ashley, Alana, Alexander, Garrick Jr. (Raelyn), Abby and Atraya; step-children, Ronald (Diane) Whiteford, Westover; Bernice (Tony) Whetstone, Irvona; Bernard (Jenele) Whiteford, Hastings; James (Kathy) Whiteford, Nicktown; step-grandchildren, Kyler (Katherine), Mark, Josh, Stephanie, Gavin, Bernie, Caleb, James and Thomas. Brother of Richard Michura, Virginia. Graduate of East Conemaugh High School and Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era, where he achieved the rank of sergeant. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Coal mines. Had also worked at Lockheed Martin. Member of Church of the Transfiguration and Blair County Antique Auto Club. John enjoyed his 1954 Ford, his collection of animated figurines, camping, trains and his beloved dog, Freckles. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday September 19, 2021 at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First St. Conemaugh. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 at Church of the Transfiguration with Fr. Robert C. Hall. Committal, Forest Lawn Cemetery with Military graveside rites by Menoher Post #155 ritual team. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Johnstown Salvation Army or Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Penn Hospice in memory of John G. Michura.
