John Scott Pearse Obituary

John Scott Pearse, 37, of Ottawa, IL, formerly of West Union, IL, died tragically in an automobile accident on September 14, 2021. He was born September 28, 1983, in Danville, IL, the son of John Rolf Pearse & Robyn Sue (Greenhalgh) Pearse. He grew up in the West Union area, where he found his first job working at Earl's Supper Club. A 2002 graduate of Hutsonville High School, he would further his education at Lincoln Trail College, where he studied Architectural Drafting/CAD, and at Illinois Valley Community College, where he earned his Wind Energy Technician Certificate. Always looking to better himself, John Scott worked in a number of capacities for several businesses over the course of his life. He was a supervisor at Paws Here Pet Resort, a bouncer at Shakers, a maintenance technician at both MAG IAS and Old Castle Materials, and a field service technician for Mahoney Environmental, where he eventually became an installation supervisor and worked in business development. Just this past April, he accepted a position with Invenergy, a role that allowed him to travel more, satisfying his deep-seated sense of wanderlust. An adventurer at heart, few things brought him more fulfillment than experiencing the natural wonder of the world around him. He savored the thrill of mountain climbing as well as the test each ascent presented. A true thalassophile, he spent countless hours on the water and enjoyed skiing, kneeboarding, kayaking, boating, and of course, fishing. He was also known to ramble atop his four-wheeler, taking in nature's beauty one mile at a time. He loved classic vehicles, as evidenced by his old S-10 truck. God only knows how much time and sweat has been poured into the thing, but John Scott loved the challenge. In fact, he would rather put in the work to redeem and repurpose something old than buy anything new. He did just that when he took an old, dilapidated farmhouse and made it into a home. In a throwaway culture such as ours, John Scott Pearse lived in a way that reminded us that we can find value in just about anything if we are willing to put in a little work. His life also helped us to see the importance of family. He would go out of his way to connect with his loved ones and made time to visit home every chance he could. They will remember John Scott as a man who truly enjoyed his 37 years. Though his life was tragically cut short, we who are left behind find comfort knowing that he filled it with real and meaningful living. He is survived by his father & step-mother, John & Starr Pearse; by his brothers, Jacob Pearse & fiancee Jess Reese and Jevon & wife Samantha Pearse; by his sister, Rhiannon & husband Evan Blankenship; by his step-sisters & brothers-in-law, Mandi & Jason McKay and Lindi & Jason Bonesteel; by his nephew, Harrison Pearse; by his nieces, Swayzie Bonesteel, Jaylin Bonesteel, and Allison McKay; by his maternal grandparents, Scott & Pat Greenhalgh; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Robyn Pearse, on December 13, 2009; by his paternal grandparents, Thomas, Jr. & Margaret Pearse; and by his best friend and companion, his dog, Coors. A celebration of John Scott's life will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Memorials may be made to his memorial fund, with checks made payable to "Goodwine Funeral Homes".
