Rayda Mailhiot

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Rayda Mary Margaret Mailhiot (nee Primeau), formerly of Deep River, Ontario at the age of 88 years. She left us while sleeping peacefully at Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke, Ont. on Friday September 3, 2021. Rayda Mailhiot, Mother of Mary Walker (husband David), Andrew Mailhiot (wife Natalie) both of Nepean, Ont., Catherine Thompson of Edmonton, Alberta and Janice Corcoran of Ottawa, Ont. Cherished Nana of Cameron Thompson (wife Lilli) and Drew Mailhiot and Great-Nana of Olive Thompson. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Victorine Primeau, six brothers Cecil (Doc), Austin, Justin, Danny, Lyle and Gerald and two sisters Lyla and Aletha. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Special thanks to Debbie Sampson, Melanie Theil and Pat Primeau for all their love, care and attention to our Mom.

Rayda leaves behind a family that she was very proud of, she was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana and Great-Nana. Rayda was world-renowned for her sense of humour and witty sarcasm and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth and gave advice, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.

Respecting Rayda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A mass in the presence of ashes will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Deep River, Ont. on Tuesday September 21st. at 1.00 p.m. followed by interment of her remains in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Deep River, Ont. A special thank you to the staff at Miramichi Lodge for their dedication and care given to Mom. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to North Renfrew Long Term Care Centre Deep River, Ont. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River, Ont.
