Helen Maleine Harvey

View Funeral Webcast Helen Maleine Harvey, 81, of Castalia, transitioned to her heavenly home on September 14, 2021 at The Willows at Bellevue after a lengthy illness. She was born August 27, 1940 in Castlewood, VA to the late Isaac Phillip and Mary Luria Lee (Hall) Jacobs. Helen attended Castlewood High School, moving to Ohio in 1965 with her husband. She worked many years as a custodian at Margaretta High School and Lutheran Memorial Home. She never met a stranger and you could often find in conversation how proud she was of her family and how much she truly loved them all. She will be remembered for her passion for gardening, sewing, canning, and always having a home cooked meal ready when anyone came to visit. She wore a string of pearls proudly with her pink lipstick. She was known for her infectious smile and sassiness. She was a giver and a helper, someone who you could always depend on. She was a member of Master Hand Church of God, Castalia, until 2015, and a prior member and deaconess of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Marblehead, until 2006, holding a Missionary Ordination. You could often find her with her song book in hand, ready to sing and give praises to her Lord and Savior at any church she attended. She loved God’s word and was a prayer warrior. She is survived by the love of her life for the past 59 years, her husband, John Thomas Harvey, of Castalia; three daughters, Anita “Karen” (Homer) Perry, of Sandusky, Janice Marie (Marvin) McKinney, of Bayview, and Melinda Lee Harvey, of Castalia; four grandchildren, Jonathon Kaleb Isaac McKinney (Ashley), Ashley Marie McKinney (AJ), Alexia Denae (Clifford) Phoenix, and Sarah Michelle Perry (Justin, Sr.); six great-grandchildren, Savannah Grace McKinney, Justin Alexander Haslett, Jr. and Alie & Lydia Hamilton, Jason & MaKenna Hoy; three brothers, George (Lois) Jacobs, Wendell Jacobs, and Phillip Jacobs, all of Castlewood, VA; one sister, Ethel Salyer, Blountville, TN; and several nieces and nephews and many more close relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Willie Jacobs, Clara Dell Jacobs, and Loretta Jacobs; sister-in-law, Debbie Jacobs; brother-in-law, Fred Salyer; and her parents. Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M. on Monday, September 20 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Benjamin Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Castalia Cemetery. Red was her favorite color and we invite those attending to wear red in her honor. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Condolences may be shared online by visiting toftfuneralhome.com. *A live webcast will be available for those who cannot attend.
