Barb A. Huffaker, 72, of Laurel, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown.
Graveside services will take place on Saturday, September 25 at 1:00 P.M. at Graceland Cemetery in Laurel. A time of visitation will be held following the service at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, beginning at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Barb’s name to the Marshalltown Animal Rescue League or your local Humane Society. Barb was born on November 18, 1948 in Newton to parents Robert and Ethel (Gardner) Carl and she grew up in Baxter. Barb was married to Harlan Huffaker and blessed with two children from this union. Barb dedicated 30 years as a cook at Villa Del Sol, then several years at Hy-Vee before retiring from Walmart. In her free time, she enjoyed watching games shows and reality TV and playing games on her tablet. She loved animals, especially her pet dogs and cats and more than anything, loved spending time with her granddaughter.
Barb is survived by her two sons: David (Michelle) Huffaker of Baxter and Stewart (Heike) Huffaker of Linden, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Kristine Huffaker; her brother, Bruce (Margaret) Carl of North Pole, Alaska; brother-in-law, Dale Minde of Holton, Kansas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In death, she is reunited with her parents and her two sisters: Cassandra “Stormy” Minde and Patricia (“Bud”) Holtsclaw.
