Gordon Oscar Knutson

Gordon(Gordy), of Greenfield, WI., died peacefully at home on Saturday Sept. 11,2021 at the ageof 90. He was born on Nov. 29, 1930 in Kingsford, MI., the son of Oscar and Helen(Beaudoin) Knutson. Preceeded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen(Frye, Aug.29,2016). Survived by sister Gladys(Donald) Kopp and brother Knute(Rosie) Knutson. Father of Jeffrey Knutson, David(Cheryl) Knutson and Sandra(Michael) Roy. Proud Grandfather of Andrew, Jacob and Joseph Roy, Christina(Phil) Oblak , Kimberly(Rob) Thompson, Beverly(Matt) Koski and Emily Knutson.Great-Grandfather of Micah, Myles, Mia and Maddox Oblak, Mason and Mckayla Thompson, Anders, Adeline, Ephraim, Elora and Emmett Koski. <br/><br/> Gordon graduated Kingsford High school and later enlisted in the army where he operated and maintained radar equipment. After the army he came to Milwaukee in search of employment and foundwork at the Nash-Kelvinator plant in Kenosha. Gordon and Kathleen(also from Kingsford, MI.) were married in 1956. He enrolled at MSOE studying Electrical Engineering while working at General Electric(Medical Systems) in Milwaukee. Gordon was involved with the development, cabling(harnessing) and installation of the first CAT scanner imaging system. He was a member of the GE trapshooting and baseball teams as well as a member of the “Camp-Friars” club. He worked at GE for 30+ years and retired in Dec. 1990.<br/><br/> Gordon was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Greenfield for over 50 years where he was currently serving as a Trustee. In retirement Gordon enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, fishing, woodworking and touring lighthouses with Kathleen and good friends. He especially enjoyed attending all the various activities of the Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. He volunteered at a memory care facility assisting residents to church and activities. A devoted Husband in Kathleen's failing years and he loved his family. He was loved and will be greatly missed. <br/><br/> We release Gordon to be reunited with Kathleen and loved ones from his past. May he find eternal peace and rest in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
