JACKSONVILLE  -  Sara Cavenaugh Ellen, 92, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Brian Center Wilson in Wilson.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with Rev. Daniel Flynn officiating.  Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

     Mrs. Ellen was born in Onslow County on February 14, 1929 to the late Lee and Deanie Lanier Cavenaugh and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, son, Jeffrey (Sparky) Ellen, Sister Jean C. Greer and Gordon Cavenaugh.  Affectionately known as Doodle, she was the eldest female member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Jacksonville and retired form Carolina Telephone as a clerk with 20 plus years of service.

     She is survived by two sons, Johnny Ellen and his wife, Gail of Charlottesville, VA and Kenneth Ellen and his wife, Teresa of Wilson; brother, Edward Lee Cavenaugh of Greenville;  daughter-in-law, Roxann Ellen Cape Coral, FL; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

     The family will receive friends Saturday morning, prior to the service, from 11:00 – 12:00 at the funeral home.
