Donnie Lynn Wilson Obituary

Donnie Lynn Wilson, of Russell Springs, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center, in Danville.

Donnie was born on July 19, 1954, in Russell Springs, son of the late Charlie and Adeline Gadberry Wilson.  He married Jean Abernathy in Tennessee on July 21, 1973.  Donnie worked as an electrician for South Kentucky RECC.  He was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church and attended Clear Fork Baptist Church.  Donnie was active with the Russell County Jaycees for many years, a member of the Russell Springs Masonic Lodge #941 and a member of the Eli Volunteer Fire Department.

Donnie loved his horses.  He loved going on camping trips and taking his horse to ride trails.  Donnie was “always the supervisor” and was known for “bossing people around”.  He loved to pick on people; if he did pick on you, that’s how you knew he liked you.  Donnie enjoyed watching westerns and rodeos, especially bull riding.  He was a friend to everybody and always willing to help someone in need.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean; his sons, Christopher (and Anna) Wilson, of Russell County, and Joshua (and Jamie) Wilson, of Adair County; his daughters, Jenny (and Danny) Allen, of Taylor County, and granddaughter, Autumn Wilson, of Russell County; his sisters, Debbie (and Dennis) Grayum and Jane (and Mark) Flanagan, both of Russell County; his grandchildren, Samantha DeLeon, of Fayette County, Christopher Trey Wilson, of Warren County, Dylan Shepherd, of Pulaski County, Logan Allen and Lucas Allen, both of Taylor County, and Jacob Wilson and Sophia Wilson, both of Russell County; his great-granddaughter, Trinity Wilson, of Warren County; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his brother, Art Lee Wilson; and by a special aunt, Orla Wilson.

Visitation will be Friday, September 17, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Bernard Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Joe Sullivan officiating.  Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Darrell Popplewell, Michael Richardson, Dwayne Wilson, Stevie McBeath, Darrell McQueary and Tracy “George” Wilson.

The Wilson family requests facial coverings be worn while attending services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salem Cemetery, c/o Clint Hart, 300 Knob View Road, Russell Springs, KY 42642.
