Antoinette Scurci Obituary

Antoinette Scurci, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 - one month shy of her 96th birthday. She was born in Trafford PA to the late Thomas and Rose (Martino) Fanty and was the sister of the late Josephine Richey and Louis Fanty.

Loving mother of five children: Karen Buterbaugh (Glenn) of Wexford; Ed Scurci (Lisa) of Boca Raton, Florida; Kathy Scurci (Jim Brandenstein) of Canonsburg; Karole Moore (Dave) of Franklin Park and Bill Scurci (Susan) of Mars. Grandmother of 14; Ryan(Kristen) Buterbaugh, Kristin(Clinton) Henry, Allison(Matt) Ferrell & Kaitlyn Buterbaugh; Stephanie(Bret) Caron, Samantha Scurci and Cynthia(Brendan) McCarthy, Julie(Pete) Micklewright & Kristine (Mike) Van Sickle, Dominic & Natalie Moore, and Will, Amanda & Wesley Scurci.  Great grandmother of 7;  Lena, Logan, Harvey, John, Madelyn, Cole and Cameron.

Nette attended business school and worked as a stenographer at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. She met her late husband of 54 years, Edward in 1951, ironically at a funeral home.   They worked at the family owned Rose Flower Shop in Trafford while raising five children.   In 1991 Nette retired from Penn-Trafford School District where she was an elementary school secretary.  She was also a faithful volunteer at Forbes Regional Hospital for many years.

She enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach in Hilton Head and was an avid Pitt Golden Panthers supporter.  She also loved watching Pirate games, playing bridge, dime bingo and arranging flowers at her care home.

The family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the staff at Paramount Senior Living in Peters Township and Gallagher Home Care and Hospice.Friends are welcome Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800) where a blessing service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Nette will be laid to rest at Penn Lincoln Cemetery.
