Janet L. Tilford

Janet Louise “Weezie” Tilford, 88, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, formally of Mahopac, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Born on April 24, 1933 in Carmel, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Edna (Pinckney) Tilford. Ms. Tilford is survived by four nephews; William Tilford, Edward Tilford, Timothy Travis, and Howard Travis; six nieces, Fran Wathley, Eileen Winslow, Michelle Wojnar, Amy Fiebke, Deborah Tharas, and Penny Byron. She is also survived by several great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Tilford was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Samuel and Henry Tilford; two sisters, Gloria Booth and Edna Travis; two nephews, Ernest and Stephen Tilford; two brother-in-laws, Lee Travis and Norman Booth; two sister-in-laws, Helen Tilford and Joan Tully; and her beloved dog, Lizzie. Janet was a sweet, quiet, kind hearted women. She enjoyed snowbird trips to Florida with family and friends, bowling, Bingo, puzzles, and pinochle. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox’s. She especially loved her sweets, often eating dessert for dinner. Graveside services and burial will be private at Ballard Barrett Cemetery in Mahopac, NY.
