<p>Andrew “Drew” Lewis Elam was born in Durham, NC on October 19, 1943 to the late Mrs. Zella Elam Burnette Mitchell and Mr. Kelly Ewing. He departed this life, peacefully, on September 14, 2021. </p><p><br></p><p>His departure was preceded by the homegoing of two brothers, Mr. Kelly Edward Elam and Mr. David “Bobby” Elam and a sister, Mrs. Iris Paula Burnette Clark. </p><p><br></p><p>Drew, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Durham County School System and worked for many years with the City of Durham until his health declined. Blessed with the gift of hospitality, Drew loved to cook for family, friends, and community. It was his passion of his to see people come together enjoying good food, good music, and one another. Already, his presence is missed. </p><p><br></p><p>Memories of Andrew will always be cherished by his sisters, Mrs. Lois Carrington (Walter), Mrs. Peggy Lyde, Mrs. Phyllis Moore and Mrs. Denece Smith (Adrian) all of Durham, NC; brother, Mr. Robert Harold Burnette (Mary) of Durham, NC; over ninety nieces and nephews; including great- and great-greats, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.</p>

Andrew “Drew” Lewis Elam was born in Durham, NC on October 19, 1943 to the late Mrs. Zella Elam Burnette Mitchell and Mr. Kelly Ewing. He departed this life, peacefully, on September 14, 2021.
