Wilbert Walter Mathis

Wilbert Walter Mathis, 81, of Hickory, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born June 9th, 1940 he was the son of the late Claude Thomas Mathis and Mary Estalle Mathis. His love of his life Elizabeth Mathis; sons, Keith W. Mathis and wife Loretta and Timothy W. Mathis; step children, Michael Shores and Angela F. Willingham; sisters, Irene Heavner, Joyce Adams and husband Fate and Faye Wolfers; grandchildren Keith Mathis Jr., Tiffany Mathis, Ashlee L. Mathis, Danielle N. Mathis, Michelle Shores, Elizabeth M. Shores, Erin N. Willingham and Morgan Shores survive him. In addition to his parents, his brothers Eugene Mathis and Claude Mathis, Jr. and sister Lily Mae Dillenger preceded him in death. There will be a memorial service at Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm. A receiving of friends and extended family is scheduled one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
