James "Monty" Monroe Austin Obituary

James Monroe “Monty” Austin, age 73, born December 23, 1947 in Chattanooga, TN died Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:24 AM after a battle with Covid. He is preceded in death by his parents E. Wayne Austin and Bee Plumley Austin of Red Bank, TN. He is also preceded in death by wife Jonelle Louvier “Jody” Austin. She was the mother of his first two children Jamey Austin and Monica Austin. Monty worked at International Paper and upon retiring he was a school bus driver for Warren County Schools. He drove for Richpond and the South Warren area for 11 years. He loved driving a school bus and loved his bus riders. If anyone asked what he was doing now he would say “I drive a school bus and I LOVE IT!” He was an avid golfer, motorcycle enthusiast, and a die hard University of Tennessee fan. His family was his pride and joy. Monty was a US Army Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country, respected America, and had conservative values. He was a member of the Plano Fire Department as one of the founders and boosters. For years he served as a volunteer firefighter. Monty held several positions at Plano Baptist Church through the years and was a current member of Southside Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 24½ years Dorothy “Dottie” (Austin) Austin of Bowling Green; four daughters Taylor Austin, Allison Dunn (John), both of Bowling Green, Jennifer Rohrs (Bronson) of Franklin, KY, Jaclyn Kirby (Kyle) of Alvaton, KY; two sons Zack Austin, of Bowling Green and Ash Evans (Hilarie) of Vancouver, WA; two brothers Larry Austin (Teri) of Sale Creek, TN and Terry Austin of Clinton, TN; eleven grandchildren Bailey Hall, Dalton Rohrs, Kilton Rohrs, Eli Kent and Kaylyn Kent all of Franklin, KY, Jacob Evans of Fort Bliss, TX, Kylie Evans of Vancouver, WA, Elsie Kirby, Maggie Kirby, Easton Kirby all of Alvaton, KY, Kolten Dunn of Bowling Green, two beloved fur babies; Maisy and Knox (“Daddy’s Baby”). Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 16 with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made to Southside Baptist Church.
