Ann Murray Obituary

Ann Theresa Murray, 82, of Montverde, FL passed away on September 8th, 2021. Ann passed peacefully in the presence of her loving family. She is survived by her children, Chris, Denise and Darren, daughters-in-law Mona and Dawn and her grandchildren Christen, Aaron, Branden, Ryan, Calista, Colin, Brandi, Megan and Tristan and her great-grandchildren Faith and Bella and her brother Jimmy. Ann was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who loved spending time with family. She lost her husband of 59 years, Chris, last year and missed him dearly and he never left her thoughts up until she passed. While those she left behind will feel an emptiness with her gone, we also celebrate her reuniting with her best friend and life partner in Heaven. Ann was born and raised in New Jersey where she spent much time around a large group of friends and family. She loved traveling and all things fun, especially trips to Seaside, family vacations and holidays. She was courted by Chris and they fell in love and married in 1961. Chris and Ann went into business with family in New Jersey while also having 3 children before moving to Ocala, FL in 1976. Ann was a people person and found herself in jobs perfect for her personality. She managed a portrait studio, managed a store in the mall and worked at Silver Springs in Ocala in gift shops among other things. Ann was a woman of faith and very active in her Church, Blessed Trinity where she would meet some of her dearest life-long friends. After becoming empty nesters, Ann would move to Montverde, FL with Chris where they moved into their dream house. Ann’s faith would continue to play a major impact in her life as for years she worked at Resurrection Church and Holy Family Church before retiring. Retirement wouldn’t last long, however, as she went back to work at her favorite job, the Wilderness Lodge, at Walt Disney World. It was more than just the perk of free passes to the park though, she genuinely loved meeting new people and touching their lives as they vacationed at the Lodge. Whether that be something as simple as giving a child a pin from her own collection or simply talking to the guests, she received numerous kudos from the guests on those interactions and she absolutely loved creating those special moments that matter with them. Chris would often tag along and play crossword puzzles in the lobby while waiting for “his love” to finish up. Ann retired after her 10 year anniversary so she could be at home with Chris. Ann was known as Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and there was no better time than Christmas for her. She always loved showering her own kids, and later grandchildren, with presents. What made Ann special at Christmas time was she wasn’t just getting gifts from your list. She shopped and looked around all year long putting lots of thought into it which made her gifts even more special. She was especially outgoing on all holidays, decorating, hosting dinners, anything that helped add to the spirit of the holiday for her family and friends. She loved going to Disney, or any theme park for that matter, with her family and even when it was harder getting around, you could always see the joy on her face and it was equally shared by her grandkids. Ann had some talent as well. She loved to doodle and was a good artist who loved learning how to draw Disney characters. She was an athlete, loved playing pick-up games with family in the yard but she actually skated around the rink playing roller derby when she was younger! She was a great bowler and played some softball. She loved video games, especially Ms. Pac Man, but loved board games with the family even more. Ann was truly a special human being. She always put others first and her own wants and needs aside so that she could do for others. If something was bothering her, you probably wouldn’t even hear about it because she simply wanted everyone to be happy and not have to worry. She was a woman of faith and values and once you were a friend of Anne’s you were a friend for life. Many of her children’s friends considered her a second mother and she would gladly take them on as such. She loved those large family gatherings we would have, especially in New Jersey with her extended Murray family and would speak to those special days quite a bit. She was a humble, loving and strong person who lived life to the fullest to the very end and will be dearly missed as her memory lives on. *****In lieu of cut flowers, the Murray family requests plants be purchased through Clermont Florist so that they may keep them in remembrance of Ann and Christopher.***** Clermont Florist: (352) 394-6108 - https://www.clermontflorist.com/Sympathyplants *****In lieu of cut flowers, the Murray family requests plants be purchased through Clermont Florist so that they may keep them in remembrance of Ann and Christopher.***** Clermont Florist: (352) 394-6108 - https://www.clermontflorist.com/Sympathyplants
