BURKITT: Joyce Virginia (nee Schmidt) April 13, 1959 - September 13, 2021 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Joyce Burkitt. Joyce passed away at St.Paul’s Hospital with husband Robert and daughter Jennifer at her side. Born in Langley B.C. to Henry and Rosella Schmidt she completed their family joining siblings Larry, Jimmy and Lynn. She spent her early years in BC and later moved with her family to farm in the Bangor area. As a teen she moved to Watrous where her family owned and operated the Sundown motel for a number of years. It was in Watrous where she met and married Robert the love of her life and husband of 44 years. Together they moved to to the family farm in Amazon where she lived until her passing. She was the proud mother of two children a son Joey and daughter Jennifer. Joey died in an accident in 1994. Jennifer married Jason Hiebert and together they have two daughters Sam and Bailey. Joyce loved her role as grandma and treasured her time with Sam and Bailey. Joyce left us too soon and we will all miss her love and laughter. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Henry and Rosella Schmidt, her mother and father-in-law Ronald and Joan Burkitt, her brother Jimmy, nephew Kyle and her son Joey. Left to treasure Joyce’s memory are her husband Robert, Jennifer and Jason Hiebert, granddaughters Sam and Bailey, Larry and Edna Schmidt, Lynn and Allan Bolton, Heather and Bob Shoemaker, Marian and Larry Wozney, Claire Burkitt and Alan Otterbein, and many nieces and nephews. A Private Family Service will be held at Manitou Springs Hotel and Mineral Spa, Manitou Beach, SK on Friday, September 17, 2021.
