Obituary

Paul John Cowell an 80 year old Naugatuck resident and husband and best friend to Patricia Perreault Cowell, passed away suddenly after a short illness on August 29, 2021. Though he struggled with memory loss and some health problems for the past couple of years, Paul maintained his legendary sense of humor and love for his family.  In addition to his wife Patricia, he leaves to cherish his memory daughters Debbie, Denise, and Lisa, grandchildren Branden, Staci, Adrienne, Jace and Lucas, great-grandchildren Autumn, Merrick and Adelynn, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Paul was born on October 22, 1940, in Shelton, Connecticut.  He worked as a mechanic at Textron Lycoming for many years where he worked hard to support his family but also had a great time with friends and co-workers.  Shortly after he retired in 1994, Paul moved to Florida with his wife Pat, where they enjoyed several years of relaxation before returning to Connecticut to be closer to family.

Paul was a loving, generous and kind man who enjoyed life to its fullest.  As a young man he loved racing cars, doing loops in his airplane, and riding his motorcycle.  He enjoyed playing pool with his brothers and watching Nascar.  He had fun taking anyone up in his airplane, and most of all he loved making people laugh.  He entertained us during our many family dinners with funny stories of growing up in the “country” tending goats and rabbits and getting into trouble with his siblings, the practical jokes he and his friends at work played on each other, and his antics while in Hawaii in the air force.  Paul was the kind of person who would talk to anyone and lend anyone a helping hand.  His kindness, love, and laughter will be forever missed. A celebration of life will be planned for family and friends.  The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, has been privileged with the arrangements.
