Carol Ann Behan

Carol Ann Behan, longtime resident of Colonial Acres in South Lyon, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. She was born on June 10, 1941 to Raymond Near and Phyllis Doll. She got her BS degree at Mercy College and spent a number of years as a Sister of Mercy. Then God called her to a different vocation of wife and mother. She gave birth to her only child, Lisa Ann Behan in Lockport, New York. Carol moved to South Lyon, Michigan, in 1999 and lived with her oldest sister, Alice, for the past twenty years. The three girls in the family (Alice, Carol, and Geri) were often together and everyone referred to them as “the three sisters”. Carol enjoyed gardening, reading, and working jigsaw puzzles, but mostly she enjoyed time with the family. She also was kept company with her loving cat, Sophie. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Ann Behan, and siblings, Richard (Jessica) Near, Alice Schmitter, Sister Geri Near, RSM, and Robert (Karen) Near as well as many nieces and nephews. Carol wanted to be cremated. Memorial visitation will be held on Monday September 27, 2021 from 10:30am to11:00am. A funeral Mass will be said September 27, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Lyon MI. In lieu of flowers the family request that donation be made in Carol’s memory to The Michigan Humane Society 30300 Telegraph, Ste. 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025 and/or to the Sisters of Mercy, 28600 W Eleven Mile, Farmington Hills, MI 48336
