Shayne Franklin Crawshaw

Shayne Franklin Crawshaw, 63, of Johnston City passed away at 2:35 p.m., Monday, September 13, 2021 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Shayne was born on August 1, 1958 in Herrin to Gay Roberson and later raised by his mother and step-father, Dwight Hoffard. Shayne was a graduate of Johnston City High School. He continued his education at Southern Illinois University where he earned two bachelor degrees and a masters degree. Shayne spent his early adult life working for Hoffard Construction and working part-time for John A. Logan College teaching Economics. He was later hired to teach Economics and Finance full-time and went on to become head of the Finance Department at John A. Logan College. His teaching methods preceded him in the community and his students. Shayne was a brilliant man and could light up a room. He had a contagious smile that could win anyone over. Shayne had a love for motorcycles and was well-known in the Harley-Davidson community. He enjoyed going on vacations and trips on his motorcycle. Shayne is survived by his parents, Dwight and Gay Hoffard of Johnston City; two children, Harley Crawshaw and Rayce Crawshaw of Herrin; brother, Destry Hoffard of Detroit, MI; two sisters, Kim Hollman of Benton and Candy Ann Hoffard of Utah; aunt, Sally (Verne) Ricker of Herrin; cousins, Trisha Roberson of Nashville, TN and Rockie Filaoro of Connecticut. He is also survived by many family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Keith and Charlene Roberson; one uncle, Jerry Roberson. To all of the friends he leaves behind, you will never be forgotten. He held each of you close to his heart. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Donnie Colson officiating. Interment will follow in the Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the funeral home. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
