Donna Jean Spriggs Obituary

Donna Jean Spriggs (formerly Weston), age 86 of Oklahoma City, passed away from this life on September 12, 2021. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Amos Henry Weston and Lucy Marie Weston (formerly Cormier) on April 28, 1935. Donna spent her childhood and formative years in Michigan. On November 27, 1954, she married the great love of her life, Richard Max Spriggs, in a ceremony in Mattoon, Illinois.

After she and Max were married, they went to California and made their home there, later moving to Oklahoma in 1982. Donna and Max enjoyed going out to dinner, camping, and thrift shopping together.

Donna was feisty, strong-willed, and very vocal- you always knew where she stood on current affairs and political issues. She had a kind, loving heart, and was a wonderful homemaker for her family. Donna’s first love was being with the love of her life, Max. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spoiling them with toys, and she liked to hang the pictures they drew for her on her refrigerator.

Donna enjoyed playing Bingo and going thrift store shopping. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled in leagues and won several tournaments. Donna enjoyed cooking, especially big holiday dinners, and she had an impressive collection of cookbooks. She loved watching Michigan football, game shows like Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, Deal or No Deal, and was a big fan of crime dramas. She also enjoyed reading John Patterson crime mystery novels.

Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and she will be forever in our hearts.

Donna was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley. She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Max Spriggs of the home; six children, including daughters Karen Minchue of Moore, Oklahoma, Teresa Spriggs, and Diane Johnston, and sons Richard Spriggs of Moran, California and Harold Spriggs of Oklahoma City; twelve grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
