Arlice Dubreuil Obituary

The family of the late Arlice Dubreuil age 67 beloved wife of Rene Dubreuil of Ituna, SK sadly announce her sudden passing on Saturday September 11, 2021.  A private family service will take place on Friday September 17, 2021 from the chapel of Christie's Funeral Home and Crematorium with Shelly Morris officiating.

Arlice was born October 15, 1953 to parents Scott & Ethel Hamilton, she has one brother Barry Hamilton and four sisters Sandra Reed, Shirley Tyson, Lynette Erickson and Valerie Gall. Arlice and her siblings grew up on a farm north east of Rose Valley and attended and graduated from Rose Valley School.

In 1970 Arlice met the love of her life when she started dating Rene while she was attending school in Saskatoon to become a CNA. The couple got married November 18, 1972 and started their family soon after with the arrival of Marc in 1973, Jason in 1974 and Staci in 1976.

Rene and Arlice moved the family and the dairy operation they were running to a larger farm in 1979, when they moved to the Ituna area, 90 miles from family and friends.

In the early 1990’s Arlice took a cosmetology course and opened her first salon in Ituna in 1995.  Later in 2002 she expanded, she bought a much larger building and added on to it incorporating a fitness centre and a tanning room to go along with her hair salon.  She called it “Trim, Tone and Tan”.

In 2005 Rene and Arlice sold the farm and moved into town where they resided together until Arlice’s sudden passing on September 11, 2021.

Arlice continued to run her business until late 2014 when she started experiencing trouble with her hands and fingers.  An operation in early 2015 seemed to fix the problem, but by 2018 she had to retire from work.

Retirement was not easy as she loved her job and sometimes worked six days a week to fit everyone in.

Arlice was always a person who dressed well and kept her hair just so, her appearance was always of great importance. She was very outgoing and could speak to anyone and loved meeting new people.  She loved going out, but did not like to be the center of attention.  Family was always her priority remembering birthdays and anniversaries.  Christmas was always the most important time of the year.

On September 11, 2021 Arlice suffered massive heart failure and passed away at home in her husband’s arms.

Arlice was predeceased by her parents Scott and Ethel Hamilton.

Arlice will be greatly missed by her husband Rene, her three children and seven grandchildren.

Rene took his marriage vows very seriously “in sickness and health till death do us part” meant exactly that and he was proud and honoured to help Arlice these past six years, saying that is what he lived for.  Arlice was one of the good ones, an absolute angel that God called for too soon.  Arlice suffered in silence often apologizing for being sick.  With every passing day came more challenges, requiring her to have more medications prescribed, until finally nothing more could be done. Rene has said that would have gladly traded places with Arlice if it could have saved her.  He will miss her greatly.
