Anthony D. Toscano Obituary


Anthony D. Toscano a former Port Chester resident passed away on September 12th, 2021 in Danbury Connecticut. He was born to Teresa (Guaglianone) and Natali Toscano on April 27th, 1937 in Port Chester, New York.


A 1955 graduate of Port Chester High School, also known as “Tony Tusk” to his many friends and fans for his skills on the football field; he remained a devoted N.Y. Giants fan for the remainder of his life. After graduating from high school, Anthony chose to serve in the U.S. Army, receiving his basic training while stationed in the state of Georgia. The Military Police became his career until his honorable discharge in 1957. Upon return to his hometown of Port Chester, NY he worked for the Port Chester Police Department.


Anthony succeeded as a restaurant entrepreneur in the food industry through several establishments in New Rochelle and Scarsdale, New York. Known best for The Golden Horseshoe in Scarsdale this deli/restaurant became a magnet for customers throughout Westchester County due to his warm and convivial manner.
Anthony also had a dream come true when he played the position of Quarterback for the popular NY Titans. He was also an avid New York Ranger fan, meeting several players and following them throughout the years.


Anthony later moved to Georgia in 1980 and would call that home for the next forty years. He looked forward to family visits, playing the role of Santa at Lake Lanier Islands for several years and Recreation time at the senior center with his best friend Eddie Shore


Anthony is survived by his son Randy Toscano of Mount Vernon, NY, and his daughters Teresa Greene (Randy) as well as Pamela Tigani (Ernie) of Port Chester, NY
He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren John Greene (Sarah) of Stormville, NY, Daniel Greene (Elizabeth) of Newtown, CT, Crystal McNabb, Alyssa Tigani, and Breanne Tigani, all of Port Chester, NY. Great grandchildren include Eryn Greene, Cassidy Greene, Lucas Molleturo and Parker Greene. Anthony he predeceased by his siblings Mary Kaplan, Lucy Cipullo and Richard Toscano.


A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday September 17, 2021 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St. Danbury, CT 06810) from 9:00am – 10:15am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Peter’s Church (104 Main St, Danbury, CT 06810) at 10:30am. Burial will take place after at St. Mary’s Cemetery (1 High St. Rye Brook, NY 10573).
