James Hicks Obituary

Mr. James Hicks, age 83, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Monday, September 13, 2021.

James was born in Warren County, KY to the late Thomas Ray Hicks and the late Lula Jewel Welcher Hicks. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton Hicks and Jesse Hicks; four sisters, Mary Phillips, Louise Lange, Norma Glore, and Betty Moody.

James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maybell Hicks, one son, Wayne Thomas Hicks of Bowling Green, KY; two brothers, Joe Hicks (Neva) of Metropolis, IL, and John Hicks of Whitestown, IN; two sisters, Ernestine Vietzke, of CA, and Ruth Ann Sisco of Bowling Green, KY, and several nieces and nephews.

James was a member at Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church and was a United Stated Army Veteran. He retired from Western Kentucky University as an electrical supervisor after 10 plus years and belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. James’s happy place was beside the water’s edge fishing the day away or out working in his garden getting ready for those home-grown tomatoes to ripen up.

The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane) with arrangements.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday September 16, 2021, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM with service being held at 1:00 PM at Cone Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lewis Chapel Cemetery in Hadley Community in Bowling Green, KY.
