Irene Zita Gilroy
October 8, 1937 – September 5, 2021 Irene Gilroy of High River, AB, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the age of 83 years. Irene was born on the family farm to Barbara and George Albert on October 8, 1937. She was an amazing wife and mother, a caring friend and will be remembered by many for her strength and kindness. Through her career as a Preschool Teacher and her work at the General Hospital including her years in Prosthetics/Orthotics she made many lifelong friends. She was a role model for her children and instilled strong work ethics. She enjoyed and loved having family dinners, crafting and gardening. She found joy in helping families while volunteering with CWL. Irene is survived and will be missed by her husband of 65 years Edwin Gilroy. She will also be missed by her children, Lorette (Peter) Braid, Joanne (Stephen) Sinclaire, Bradley Gilroy, Lyle (Karen Corner) Gilroy and Diana (Joe) Tworek. She was loved and will be missed by her grandchildren, Nicole,David, Mick (Laurie Roberts) and Jenna Braid, Jordan Gilroy, Thomas, Emily and Kimberly Tworek, and a great-grandson Tyson. She is survived by her brother George Albert, sister-in-law Pat Albert (Bernie) and brother-in-law Harold Gilroy. She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and Charlene (Jordan’s mother). Irene was predeceased by her son Avery Paul Gilroy, parents, Barbara and George Albert; sister Helen Lermen and brother Bernie Albert. A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held at a later date.
