Richard Boniface Bussen, age 88, a longtime resident of Armada, passed away September 14, 2021. He was born at the family home in Wallace Kansas on June 5, 1933, the last of nine children to Theodore and Barbara (Fueser) Bussen. Richard grew up on the family farm and attended a one room school house until the 8th grade when, his father passed and he was needed to assist on the farm. He joined the United States Navy in 1955 and then was honorably discharged to be with his ailing mother the following year. He spent the next decade working harvest from Canada through the plains into Mexico. Richard married Antoinette Gdula in Utica, Michigan at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on November 11, 1966 and began to raise a family. A year later, Richard and his wife moved to Wallace Kansas where he was a county employee. Richard also farmed, was a mechanic and an inventor. It was said he could fix anything with a pair of pliers, wire and electrical tape. He was a member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus # 7018 for 60 years. He enjoyed rock tumbling, hunting and riding his motorcycle but, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his wife, Antoinette, son Bartholomew (Kelley) Bussen of Allenton, daughter Annette (James) Roosa of Houston, Texas and four grandchildren, Kristin, MacKenzie, David, and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his siblings. In lieu of flowers, donations memorials may be sent to the knights of Columbus. A Memorial Mass will be said on September 18, 2021 at 10:00AM at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church.
