Barbara Emily Whitford
Cornwall - Barbara “Emily” Whitford passed away on September 10, 2021 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Robert Whitford of 59 years. She was born on December 14, 1937 in Washington, Connecticut to the late Walter and Barbara (Bolton) Sheldon. Emily worked as a legal secretary and as the church secretary at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church for 35 years. After retirement, she went on to work for the Morris and Cornwall Fire Departments. Emily loved to travel, having visited Canada, to visit her friend since 7 years old, Jean and all but 9 states. In addition to her husband, Robert, Emily is survived by her son, Donald (Melissa) Whitford, her daughter, Mollie (Gus) Sogliuzzi, six grandchildren; Christina, Hunter, Gabriella, Nevin, Logan and Dominic, her sister, Jeanne Mosher, her beloved dog, Cooper, several nieces and nephews, her twin “Best Friend”, who was 14 days older, Barbara and her great neighbor and friend, Evelyn. She was predeceased by her siblings; William Sheldon, Margery Osuch, James Sheldon and Peter Sheldon. The family would love to thank the staff at Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Litchfield County for all of their support, especially Becca, Melissa, Michelle, Martha and Ann. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cornwall Fire Department, 289 Sharon-Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall, CT 06796.
