June Louise Gray Obituary

June Louise Gray, nee Heidlauf, flew home to Jesus on September 14, 2021, just two weeks shy of her 94th birthday.

June was born to Arthur William Heidlauf and Harriet Thulin Heidlauf on October 2, 1927 in Evanston, Illinois.

As a child, she grew up and attended schools in Park Ridge, Illinois.  She was an avid reader, dog lover, passionate “foodie” and international traveler.  June met her husband, Robert "Bob" Duane Gray in 1947 at a youth meeting at Des Plaines Bible Church playing musical chairs, where he fell immediately in love with the beautiful girl in the red plaid jumper. They married August 5, 1949 while studying at Columbia Bible College in Columbia, South Carolina.  After graduation they began their pastoral ministry and raised four children, Marc, Todd, Becki and Jon.

June began her career working in public schools so she could be home with her children after school and in the summers. She held a variety of positions, concluding as secretary to the Superintendent at Geneva High School. During their active ministry, Bob and June resided in Van Orin, Illinois, Oak Park, Illinois, River Forest, Illinois and Geneva, Illinois.  After retirement, they moved to Marco Island, Florida, where they spent twenty delightful years. In 2014, they returned to Geneva and finally moved in 2019 into The Holmstad in Batavia, IL.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, June excelled as a hostess, happily creating wonderful meals for many diverse people and groups. Throughout her entire life, she held a childlike faith in her personal relationship with Jesus, which she modeled to all who surrounded her.

She is survived by her four children, Robert Marcus (Tina), Todd David (Sherry), Rebecca Jane Beers (Ronald) and Jonathan Duane (Sutherland), thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and her brother, Howard (Valerie) Heidlauf.

June joins her husband Bob, parents Arthur and Harriet Heidlauf and great-grandson Javier Garay in Heaven.
