Sonja Dorothy Hendrix, 83, of Baroda, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at her home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 1PM, at Ruggles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Caring Circle, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, or Animal Aid, 717 St. Joseph Dr., St. Joseph. Sonja was born on October 4, 1937, to John & Linnea (Pahl) Granstrom in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Hirsch High School in Chicago. On March 10, 1967, Sonja married Robert Hendrix. She worked for Sears in Chicago and then transferred to the Benton Harbor location. When Sonja was younger she enjoyed roller skating. She loved to go dancing, listen to music and play the piano, organ and accordion. She also had a passion for animals, especially cats and dogs. Sonja is survived by her nieces Linda Zick, Nancy Jeffery, Diana Nash and Melany Mangold; many great-nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Sonja was preceded in death by her parents, John & Linnea and her husband Robert Hendrix.
