<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">J</span></span><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">ames Lee Davis, age 82 of Forest City, North Carolina, died Monday, September 13, 2021, at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills.&nbsp; James was born on July 10, 1939, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Worth and Clara Haynes Davis.&nbsp; James worked for many years for the former Haynes-Jones Furniture Store in Forest City and later for Dollar Discount at the Tri-City Mall.&nbsp;&nbsp; His walk of faith began at the former Westside Baptist Church which later became Crestview Baptist Church.&nbsp; James was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist where he was Head Usher for many years.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and he served in the United States Army. James enjoyed sharing with others and is well remembered for always giving candy away to everyone he met.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">I</span></span><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">n addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Davis.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:22px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">S</span></span><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">urvivors include his wife of 60 years, Doris Henson Davis of the home, a daughter, Starlyn D. James Lee Davis, age 82 of Forest City, North Carolina, died Monday, September 13, 2021, at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills.  James was born on July 10, 1939, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Worth and Clara Haynes Davis.  James worked for many years for the former Haynes-Jones Furniture Store in Forest City and later for Dollar Discount at the Tri-City Mall.   His walk of faith began at the former Westside Baptist Church which later became Crestview Baptist Church.  James was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist where he was Head Usher for many years.  He was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and he served in the United States Army. James enjoyed sharing with others and is well remembered for always giving candy away to everyone he met.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Doris Henson Davis of the home, a daughter, Starlyn D. Hunt and husband Dwayne of Forest City, his grandchildren, Aaron Hunt of Charlotte, Ashton Hunt Owens and husband Alex of Forest City; great-grandson, Brayden James Owens, a sister, Sandra Kay Dobbins of Forest City, a brother, Larry Davis and wife Linda of Forest City.


The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating.  Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
