RICHARD AYALA Obituary

Our family sadly lost the life of our beloved father on Monday September 6, 2021, when Richard Ayala, Jr. unexpectedly passed at the age of 57.

Richard came into this world on February 4, 1964 in Gonzales, TX to Mary and Richard Ayala, Sr. He was raised in Waelder, TX where he graduated from Waelder High School in 1982. Shortly after, he met the love of his life Rebecca (Becky). The two were married in 1985 and this union has blessed them with three daughters and five grandchildren. Richard was a die hard Tennessee Titans, San Antonio Spurs, and Texas Longhorns fan which resulted in a divided household all year long due to Becky being a fan of opposing teams Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Richard had many things he cherished in life. His wife, daughters, grandchildren, as well as his employment with the Texas Department of Transportation. Here he dedicated 35+ years of service and considered those he worked with as a second family.

We will remember him as the greatest family man who always put his loved ones first. Even in his last days his grandchildren were the ones who kept him going. Richard was the life of all gatherings by being the family DJ, everyone’s dance partner, the best jokester, and of course had the best “grito.” We will miss the selfless gestures he did to pamper his children even through their adult years such as manicuring their hands and feet, ironing and washing their clothes, detailing their vehicles, and being the best lawn care individual to not only his property but his parent’s as well.

Richard is survived by his three daughters: Amanda Walker & husband Brandon Walker, Geralyn Ayala & husband Javier Amaro, and Angelica Ayala; his grandchildren Alaya & Brandon Walker, August Amaro, and Kamdon & Kaison Ayala; his 3 siblings, their spouses,  numerous nieces and nephews, as well as aunts and uncles whom he loved beyond words. He is predeceased by his wife Rebecca Sykes-Ayala; his aunt Elvira Rosas; and grand parents Angelina & Santiago Ayala and Juanita & Augustine Quintero.
