Donald Mello, Sr.
<p>Donald Mello, Sr. 84, of Bent Road, Rumford passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Mary T.(McConnell) Mello. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Alfred F. and Helena E. (Medeiros) Mello. Mr. Mello was a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 43 years before he retired in 1998. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He leaves two daughters, Mary Lou Allienello of Rumford and Ann F. Shattuck and her husband Mark of East Providence, five sons, Donald Mello, Jr. of East Providence, John Mello and his companion Diana of East Providence, Paul Mello and his wife Kathy of Seekonk, James Mello of East Providence and Peter Mello and his wife Jackie of East Providence, two sisters, Teresa Gregoire of Michigan and Helena Cahir of Rumford, ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was the brother of the late Alfred F. Mello. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Waterman Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8.
