John Vieira Sr., 90 of East Providence passed away Monday May 18, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Mariana B. (Barros) Vieira. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Antone and Justa (Gibau) Vieira.

John was Merchant Marine for Exxon for 35 years and a WWII Army Veteran and also a member of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons Steven Vieira of CA, Peter Vieira of North Providence, John Vieira, Jr. of Rumford, and four grandchildren. He was Pre-Deceased by nine brothers and sisters.

A funeral for John will be held on Friday at 9 AM from the PERRY MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Martha's Church, Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM.
