Richard F. Ryder, 87 of Bristol and Florida, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was the husband of Barbara A. (DeFontes) Ryder to whom he was married 62 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Cassidy) Ryder. Mr. Ryder was a self employed contractor and realtor and was the owner of Ryder Realty. He was a Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of Holy Name Grammar School, LaSalle Academy and Providence College, Class of 1959. He was a member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club and an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife he leaves three children, John Ryder and his wife Lori, Julie Ryder and her husband Steven and Jeff Ryder, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Joseph Ryder and Jennifer Ryder.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 99 Camp Street, Providence. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Lauren Zarembka Memorial Foundation, PO Box 154544, Riverside, RI 02915 would be appreciated.
