Maria "Josephine" (Couto) Marshall, 48, of Standish Avenue passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at her home. She was the fiancé of Pedro Garcia.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of Joe and Maria (Dias) Couto. Josephine was a nail technician and cosmetologist for Aidile's Hair Salon & Nails. She was a very loving and giving person. If anyone ever needed anything or had any kind of problems, they knew they could go to Josephine for help. She never refused anyone in need. Many of her clients were also her friends. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed working in the yard and loved to cook. Above everything else, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Besides her parents and fiancé she leaves two daughters, Hannah M. Marshall of Seekonk and Makaila M. Marshall of East Providence, one brother, Michael D. Couto and his wife Helena of East Providence, one sister, Christine D. Vieira and her husband Mario of East Providence, five nephews, three nieces, two stepdaughters and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8.
