Emmanuel “Manny” Lopez Obituary

Emmanuel "Manny" Lopez, 86, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019. He was the husband of the late Ida "LaLa" (Cabral) Lopez. Born in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa, he was a son of the late Marice and Maria (Nascimento) Lopez. Mr. Lopez became a U.S. Citizen in 1984. He worked with copper wiring for Norton Safety Products before his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Rumford Towers Tenants Association and the East Providence Senior Center. He was a percussionist who enjoyed recording music. He loved fishing and dancing, held a black belt in Judo, was an avid bowler and was also known to be quite the handyman. He leaves five daughters, Linda Dorch and her husband Kenneth of Boston, Teresa Gilbert and her husband Ernest of Kentucky, Leslie Lopes-Ruffin and her husband Frederick of Maryland, Robin Lopes of East Providence and Jacqueline Lopez of Maryland, three sons, Gerard Lopes and his companion Marcia Martin of Pennsylvania, Christian Lopez of Cumberland and Emmanuel Lopez, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Nairobi, Kenya, one sister, Gouana Jacqueline Lopez of West Africa, seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. His funeral and visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 10:30am in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a service to follow at 12:00pm. Burial will be private.
