Edna M. Jackson

Edna M. Jackson, age 91 of Springfield passed away on September 9, 2021 at Vero of Wilbraham. She was born in Sardis, GA a daughter of Haskell and Annie Mae (Wilson) Giles. Edna attended high school in Savannah, GA and nursing school at Wesson Hospital and earned an Associate’s from STCC. She worked as an LPN at Wesson, Springfield Hospital, in nursing homes and private duty. Edna was an avid quilter and belonged to two quilting guilds. She made lots of quilts for family, friends, and the homeless. She loved flea markets and couldn’t pass an antique store without stopping in. Edna won a medal for bowling in the Senior Olympics. Above all, Edna was a faithful woman. She was a member of Saint George’s Episcopal Church in Newport News, VA, and of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Springfield, MA. Edna was one of 12 children. She is predeceased by 8 of them, survived by 3. She is also predeceased by her husband Elwood M Jackson and daughter Stephanie Ann Jackson. Edna is survived by her son Dr. Stanley Jackson and his wife BJ of Springfield, as well as 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on September 17th at 10 am Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church at 45 Buckingham St, Springfield, MA with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at a later date at Mt Nebo Baptist Church in South Carolina.
