Harold "Opie" House Obituary

Harold “Opie” House, 49, of Paris Crossing, passed away at 12:23 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born April 3, 1972, in Columbus, he was the son of Sammy House Sr. and Janet P. (Wilson) House.

Opie was a 1990 graduate of Jennings County High School and was currently working as a lead grinding engineer for NTN Driveshaft where he has been employed for 26 years. He previously worked for the former Dolly Madison Bakery in Columbus for two years. Opie was a member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing, working on cars, mud bogging, playing pool, cooking, and making wine.

He is survived by his sons, Bret (Madison) Rose of Seymour and Matthew House of Maryland; parents, Sammy and Janet House of Hayden; brothers, Sam (Rachel) House Jr. of Dupont and Vernon Daniel (Theresa Morgan) House of Florida; sister, Charity (Jon) Hill of Seymour; and grandchild, Kenzley Carpenter of Seymour.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Cana Cemetery in Jennings County. Arrangements were in care Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
