Wanna Jo Penick, 86, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 1:42 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2021 at home with family. Funeral services will be private for family only. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A native of Madisonville, KY she was born November 11, 1934 the daughter of the late Phoenix Whitson Brown and Christine Hunter Thomas. She was a retired Rural Letter Carrier and a retired designer/florist for Morse Florist. She was an accomplished artist that followed in the style of Monet. She was a lifelong Christian. She was a member of the John Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; a past recipient of the Breathitt Democrat of the Year Award, and a longtime member of the Democratic Party since 1960. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph Walker Penick; her daughter: Cydonna Vinson; and her brothers: Charles Brown and Billy Maraman. Survivors include her son: L. Lee Penick of Hopkinsville, KY; her grandsons: John (Michelle “Missy”) Cherry and Justin Vinson; and her great grandson: Logan Cherry; her half-brothers: Phillip Brown of Evansville, IN and Richard Brown of St. Louis, MO; her half-sister: Diana McCarthy of Evansville, IN. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Max’s Hope Pet Rescue.
