Suddenly on September 10, 2021 at the Portage District General Hospital Vivian (Dixie) Weeks passed away.
Born September 3, 1934 the eldest child of Ben and Elsie Friesen, she spent most of her childhood in the Mowbray area.  On July 2, 1954 she married Hugh Weeks and they farmed near Snowflake, MB for 40 years.  Following the death of Hugh, she moved to Manitou in 1994.
Predeceased by her husband Hugh, her daughters Sandra Taylor and Tracey (Rodney) Moores, she is survived by her oldest daughter Jo-Anne (Larry) Pelzer, son Curtis Weeks and son-in-law Kim Taylor.
She had four grandchildren:  Mavis (Richard) De La Ronde, Erin (Kurt) Pazmandy, Holly (Ross) Derksen and Trevor Taylor.  She had 8 great grandchildren.
Vivian was an avid gardener who preserved fruits and vegetables for herself and friends.  She was a great baker who made bread, buns and home made “Oreo” cookies for the great grandchildren.  She always provided baking for UCW catered funerals and other community events.  Vivian enjoyed knitting for family, friends and charity.  She was an official weather recorder for Environment Canada for over 25 years.  She also was involved with recycling, re-purposing and re-using long before it was popular and no local birds went hungry in the winter.
Vivian was a huge community supporter:  a life-time member of the UCW, taught Sunday School, a 4-H leader, a local canvasser for charities and volunteered for the Manitou Log House Tourist Centre and Manitou Thrift Store.
Vivian was always physically active enjoying curling, snowmobiling, floor curling, and was an original member of the Spice Grannies physical fitness group that promoted active living for Seniors.  She did morning yoga and walked every day.
