Jeremy Lamar Cassels Obituary

Jeremy Cassels, 42, of Waco, passed away suddenly, Sunday, September 12th, 2021.  The family will have a time of visitation 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with a time of sharing from 2:30-3:30.

Jeremy Lamar Cassels passed away, September 12th, 2021, at Baylor Scott & White hospital.  He was 42 years old.  Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 25th, with family and friends speaking on Jeremy’s behalf at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with a visitation following.  If you would like to speak on Jeremy’s behalf, any are welcome, please come prepared because sometimes grief makes it hard to get out the words you are wanting to convey.

Jeremy was born November 7th, 1978, in Louisiana.  Growing up he enjoyed reading books and music.  He played the drums in the Jena High School band.  His love of reading carried on throughout his life.  He adored sci-fi, shooting, current events, suspense, and building books and novels.  Really any book he could get his hands on to read, he would devour.  As an adult, he loved aerosoft, shooting, building things with his hands, gaming, and scuba diving.

He married Brooke in 2011 and has one beautiful daughter, Abigail.  He was extremely proud of Abigail being his daughter.  Jeremy and Brooke were told they probably would not be able to have kids, so when Brooke became pregnant Abigail was their miracle child.  Jeremy doted on his wife and daughter.  He made sure they always felt loved, secured, and taken care of in life, and complete/whole in knowing they were his world.  He was an amazing husband and father.

Jeremy dabbled in college at NSU.  After some college, he worked as a juvenile correctional officer.  Later in his career he worked offshore.  He adored working with his hands on offshore equipment.  When the offshore market declined, Jeremy started work at the Coca-Cola company.  The work was hard, but he made quite a few lifelong friends at the Coca-Cola plant.  Brooke jokingly called them his work wives.

Jeremy is survived by his Father and Stepmother, J. L. and Ann Cassels, Mother and Stepfather, Liz and Pete Prudhomme, Sister, Kelly Estis, Brother and Girlfriend, Coy Bruner and Chandra Gilbreath, Brother and Wife, Deric and Toni Bruner. He was survived by numerous nieces and nephews: Kelsie and Micah Bruner, Kenzie and Bayly Bruner, Taylor and Morgan Estis, and Gage, Riley, and Cooper Smith.

Jeremy was healthy and happy but passed away before his time with a brief encounter with COVID.  He was deeply loved by his family and friends.  His loss is deeply felt by those who loved him.
