While at his York home, surrounded by his loving family, Ernie went to be with his Lord and Savior on October, 20, 2011. Born on June 7, 1924, in South Bend, Indiana, he was the son of the late Ernest F. and Gladys Gaskill Ulbricht. Ernie was a nine year Navy veteran of WW-II and the Korean Conflict. He worked as an Electrician or an Electronic technician at Studebaker, Easy Heat Wirecraft, Motorola, White Farm Industry and Bendix/Honeywell in South Bend, Indiana. He was a member of North Liberty Masonic Lodge 266 A.F.M., North Liberty Chapter 290 O.E.S., Michiana Amateur Radio Club, and the Navy Amateur Radio Club. He was also a very active member of The Church of the Brethren in North Liberty. In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Roush Ulbricht, his brother , William, son-in-law, Jerry, and grandson Jeffery Howell. In 2003, he moved from North Liberty, IN to York, SC where he married his present wife, Grace Ebersold Ulbricht. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a Master Mason in the York Philanthropic Lodge 32 A.F.M. Survivors include his daughter Betty and son-in-law Neal Stockeland of Grand Rapids, MI, his sister Avis and brother-in-law Ted Davis of Naples, FL., his grandchildren, James and Ciara Stockeland of Fargo, N.D., Aaron and Jonathan Stockeland, and his great-grandchildren, Harrison and Isabella Stockeland. He was loved by nieces Lynn (Fred) Gray, Ellen (Richard) Kamysz and Julie Metz. Graces children and grandchildren dearly loved Ernie Step-children include Barbara and Sean Coady Catie Kamphues and Tony Reynolds and Mark and Lannette Ebersold of Dallas, Texas. Step-grandchildren include Gareth, Gretchen, and Rose Coady, Kathryn and Andy Castillo, Mikel and Dawn Kamphues of Ft. Wayne, IN, Melany and Kevin Shaw, Logan and Becca Ebersold, Brenton and Blair Ebersold. His step great- grand children include Mia and Zoey Kamphues, Adelaide Ebersold, and Maddox Shaw. Services to celebrate his life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, York, SC on Saturday, October 22 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Eugene L. Feagin officiating. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in York, SC. Visitation will be held at Bratton Funeral Home in York, Friday, October 21, 2011 from 6-8pm.
