Obituary for Isabelle Hood Dowdle Marion, NC Isabelle Hood Dowdle, 96, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012. She was born October 23, 1915 in York County, SC. She was the wife of the late L.T. Dowdle. She and her late husband resided in Sumter, SC and in later years Isabelle moved to Western North Carolina to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by sister, Ellen Lynn Hood, and brother, Faye Hood. Isabelle had a servants heart. She was an American Red Cross Volunteer, a volunteer at Tuomey Hospital for over 25 years, a dedicated member of the Bland Garden Club for over 4 decades and an active member and volunteer at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sumter, SC. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Leighton T. Dowdle Jr. and wife Irene of Marion, NC. She is also survived by four grandsons, Leighton Craig Dowdle (Rebecca) of Wilkesboro, NC, Joshua Patrick Dowdle (Amy) and Clayton Johnson Dowdle (Katherine) both of Marion, NC, and Logan Thorne Dowdle of Charleston, SC. Isabelle also had five Great Grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sharon, SC.
