LaWayne O'shea Ross Obituary

LaWayne O’Shea Ross

“Wayne”

At 3:01 PM on November 20, 1996 Randy and Yolanda Ross welcomed their son LaWayne O’shea Ross into the world.  He was the youngest of two siblings.

LaWayne was baptized at an early age at True Honor Missionary Baptist Church in Clute, TX under the ministry of Pastor James L. Williams.  As a child, he participated in church youth events, singing and performing under the direction of his mother Yolanda.  He loved listening to the pastor and played “church” at home with his siblings.  During church he clapped and sang along with the choir and was fascinated by the choir director hence his love for music.

LaWayne was enrolled in daycare at Sugar N Spice, Richwood, TX.  He attended school within the Brazosport Independent School District (B.I.S.D), Elisbet Ney, Rasco, LJI, and graduated from Brazoswood High School, Clute TX in 2015.  He received a full athletic scholarship and attended McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisiana.

He was a standout athlete in football, basketball and baseball.  In his youth he made the all-star baseball team yearly as well as the football traveling team.  In youth football he played for Brazoswood Youth Football Association and was coached by his father Randy Ross and Jason Cunningham.  LaWayne also played on a tournament basketball team, Buc Select and was coached by Brian Shandley and Darren Barnett.  In high school LaWayne left baseball behind and continued to play basketball, coach Will Flemons and football, coach Dean DeAtley.  LaWayne received many accolades in his youth athletic career, too many to list.

His collegiate career was between 2016-2018 under coach Lance Guidry.  During this stint he continued to earn accolades:  All-Southland Conference, All-Louisiana tight end, 2017 school record for receiving yards, Preseason All-American.  He coined the nickname, “The Bus” but is known locally as “The Train”.  Although Wayne excelled at sports, his passion was music.

Wayne enjoyed fishing, family and friends and had a passion for making music.  What bothered you bothered him.  He was known to put others before him often cheering you up by making you laugh at his silly jokes.  Prior to his passing he was pursuing a career in safety management and online trading investments.  His music is shared widely and expresses life as he lived it.  His stage name was Richwood Soulja, label Richwood Entertainment, music can be found on YouTube, SoundCloud and Apple Music.

On September 7, 2021 LaWayne transitioned to his eternal home after a brave fight against COVID-19.

Preceded in passing are, uncle, Robert Milton Lee.  Paternal descendant of Bennie May Harrison and Jerry Bryant Sr.  Maternal descendant of Eugene Bradshaw Sr., Delores Woods Bradshaw, Audrey L. Thompson and Floyd Barrett Cox, Sr.

He leaves to mourn, parents, Randy and Yolanda Ross; sister, Eban’e Ross (Ramiro); brother, Ryan Ross (Corina); maternal grandparents, Tommy and Barbara Bradshaw; paternal grandmother, Silver Ross; paternal grandfather, Randy Ross Sr.; Nephew, Adrian Ross; Niece, Amari Gonzalez; Aunt, Dr. Kalonda Bradshaw; Aunt, Darlonda Bradshaw; Aunt, Martha Lee; Aunt, Cheryl Ross (Charles); Aunt, Kimberly Ross (Jessica); cousin and “brother”, Corey Williams Jr.; cousins, Lawrence Moore, LaTisha Green, Bethany Moore, Mya Singleton, Ciara Williams, Corriann Williams, Carrissa Williams, Carie Williams, Colanda Williams, Cason Williams, Brook lyn Hill; Girlfriend, Kayla Marshall; best friends Drew Lowery, Keith Washington, Ridge Barnett, Jordan Tolbert, Jordan Carter, Caylan Henry, #bouncy squad, and a host of cousins, friends and family.
