Margaret Damore

HAMPDEN & MAPLETON – Margaret L. Damore went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, September 11, 2021 after a brief period of declining health. Born June 10, 1932, she was the 11th child of Fred and Beatrice Tompkins. A Mapleton native later moving to Presque Isle and recently living with her daughter and son-in-law in Hampden. Margaret married Lawrence J. “Larry” Damore in 1953. Predeceased by her husband Larry and son Sandy L. Damore, she is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Vickie and Bay Murchison of Hampden, Suzanne and Jack Miller of Milford, Delaware, grandson Ryan Damore of Galloway, New Jersey, JoAnn “daughter #3”, special friends and 18 nieces and nephews. Margaret was a member of the Mapleton United Methodist Church, very active in the “UMW” United Methodist Women, sang in the choir, and served as Children's Choir leader. She attended Aglow Intl. meetings as well as their retreats enjoying as much fellowship with other Christian women as possible. Margaret was a great cook, she would say “nothing fancy”, but many family and friends enjoyed her homemade bread and custard pie. She loved everything about Christmas, Jesus' birthday, giving gifts and cooking special Christmas treats for family and friends. Margaret was well known for her “garage sales” with many often requesting a sneak preview. A brief graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Johnson Cemetery, Caribou Rd, Presque Isle, Thursday, September 23, 11:30 am. followed by a time of fellowship at the Mapleton United Methodist Church. Donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the church of your choice. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.duncan-graves.com

As a child, walking into Aunt Margaret's home always smelled like homemade bread! It was so delicious. Her oldest daughter, Vicki, and I always played together. Very fond memories of a wonderful lady and aunt.
