Robert "Bob" Calvin Poch Obituary

Robert Calvin “Bob” Poch, 95, died Monday, September 6, 2021 at Hot Springs Health hospital in Thermopolis, Wyoming.  He was presently residing at the Wyoming Pioneer Home.

The fourth of seven sons of Paul and Phyllis (Hacker) Poch, Bob was born in or near Pine Bluffs, Wyoming.  From 1929-1935 the family lived on a farm in Colorado until forced to move due to the dust bowl and Depression.  Residing in Cheyenne, Bob began working in a grocery store. He began working part time at Inland Air at the Cheyenne Airport, learning to be an aircraft mechanic.  Dropping out of school he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1944, using that knowledge as a mechanic to serve him well in Africa and Italy.

Following his discharge in 1946, Bob returned to Cheyenne working for Langley’s Grocery learning the meat cutter trade.

On March 7, 1948 he married Marjorie Elaine Schleicher in Cheyenne.  They and their son moved to Thermopolis in 1950.

A vital resident of the community, Bob never knew a stranger.  A beloved member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, he always had time to visit with young people and was known for his funny quips.  He was a member of Kiwanis, BPOE and VFW.

He is survived by his son, Robert Craig Poch of Cheyenne, two grandchildren and his brother, Eugene Poch of Redding, CA and his church family.

Memorial services are pending.
