Vonda Watson, 56, of Decatur, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. She was born on August 14, 1965 in Cario, Illinois to Samuel Grant Sr. and Joan Grant. She attended Meridian High School in Mounds, Illinois. Vonda worked at Hometown Buffet for several years prior to becoming a homemaker and serving as a foster mother.   Vonda was affectionately called “Big Girl” by her parents, and earned several other nicknames from family and friends throughout her life.  Vonda was born into a faithful family, and accepted Christ early in her life. She was a member of Community Church of God and devoted time daily to her Bible study and prayer group.  Vonda possessed an infectious smile, an abundant amount of joy, and a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. Her caring heart made an impact on those who knew her. Vonda enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, and was known for spending hours on the phone or Facebook connecting with those she cherished most.  She also enjoyed watching game shows, soap operas, and classic sitcoms such as The Golden Girls and Three’s Company. Vonda was also known for her love of coffee and her morning breakfast routine.  Vonda leaves on this earth her: husband of 14 years Alfred Watson; special son (brother) Al (Givonna) Grant, children Kamaria Watson and India Watson; special children Natorya (Jeff) Spence, Dario (Jessica) Mackins, Tiara Mackins, and  Kyiesha Mackins; brothers Jimmie Anderson, Albert Holloway, Kelvin Mackins, Samuel Grant Jr., and Tamias (Vita) Grant; sisters Carol Spates and Elizabeth Mackins; aunts Maedell Smith, Marva Adkinson, and Eunice McClung; 3 special grandchildren Rayvon Grant, Destiny Grant, and Soteria Grant; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, church family, and friends.  Vonda was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents,  niece Mariah Mclendon, and other beloved members of her family.
