Joan C. Hart Obituary

Joan C. Hart passed away very peacefully in her home in Pewaukee, WI, on September 13, 2021. She was born in Sheboygan, WI, on November 11, 1931 to Lawrence and Charlotte Butler. She grew up in Plymouth, WI, and was active in Jobs Daughters where she was an Honored Queen. Joan graduated from Plymouth High School in 1949. She attended Ripon College and Prospect Hall Business School. She met Howard V. Hart on a blind date in 1952 and they were married July 24, 1954. They lived Chicago while he was in optometry school. She lived in Stamford, CT, while Howard was in the army. After his discharge, they moved to the Milwaukee area, eventually settling in Brookfield. They lived there until 2001, when they moved into a new condo in Pewaukee. Joan enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, rug hooking, quilting, playing the piano, singing in the church choir, talking with friends, playing bridge, collecting cheese dishes, and taking care of her family. The flower gardens at their home in Brookfield were a source of pride. She always liked being at their lake house in northern Wisconsin where she would go for boat rides, swim, do some reading, relax with the neighbors, and try to avoid mosquitos and ticks. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was especially excited by all of their accomplishments. She is survived by her husband, Howard; her son Charles (Lisa) Hart of Fitchburg, WI; her daughter Sarah (the late Joe) Martino of Steamboat Springs, CO; her brother Wayne (Nancy) Butler of LaHarpe, IL; grandchildren Josh (Rachelle) Hart of Charlotte, NC and Kaitlyn Hart of Los Angeles, CA; nieces Lora Butler, Amy (Ted) Begley, Lisa Butler, and Alison (Stuart) Gunn and nephew Jesse Butler and their families; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Charlotte, her brother Dean Butler, his wife Judith, and nephew L. Dean Butler. Howard would like to express his gratitude for the loving care his daughter-in-law Lisa gave, living with them the past 17 months. The family would also like to thank Horizon Hospice, particularly Nikki, Rory, Matt, and Amber, and Home Instead, particularly Britney and Stormie, for all of the support and care they provided. Due to current conditions, the family respectfully asks that masks be worn while at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Horizon Home Care and Hospice (www.horizonhomecareandhospice.org) or the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County (www.hawspets.org). Visitation Saturday, September 25th at the Harder Funeral Home form 10:00 am until time of Memorial Service at 1:00 pm.
