Steven Bernard Foley Obituary

Steven Bernard Foley, 58, of Northwood, NH, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Steven was born on March 9, 1963, a son of Bernard “Bernie” Foley and Marcia Foley. He grew up in Maynard, MA, where he met and fell in love with his soulmate, Laura, at the age of 15. After graduating from UNH and getting married, he and Laura settled down in Northwood, NH, and built a beautiful life for their family with children Daniel and Leah and many beloved pets over the years. Steven worked for Gurney Engineering/Water Treatment NE for 30 years, where he was Vice President. He was well known for his knowledge of chemistry treating industrial water systems for boiler and cooling towers. Steven was an avid fisherman, something he shared with his father, uncle, brothers, son Dan, and of recent, his grandson, Connor. Steven and Dan also shared a love for bird watching. He had a humble talent for woodworking, making beautiful furniture. He could typically be found in his woodshop working on a project, listening to Prairie Home Companion, or sitting at the garage doors watching the stars. He greatly enjoyed watching Sunday Patriots games with beloved friends Bill and Claire Beauvais. He also enjoyed family get-togethers, BBQing, fishing trips, and weekend getaways to Cape Cod with the Andersons. Above all, he loved his family. He and Laura shared a love so special and profound. He was a devoted father to Dan and Leah, coaching their elementary school teams, attending their sporting events even through college, helping with homework from 6th grade math to advanced calculus and organic chemistry, and going to countless theater showings of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. He was most proud of being Papa to his beloved grandson Connor, who was by far his greatest treasure. His smile and laugh, “the Foley giggle,” was infectious, and he certainly kept everyone laughing with his endless funny stories from his high school and college days. He was brilliant, talented, hilarious, strong, and humble. Steven is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Laura Mariani Foley, son Dr. Daniel Foley and his wife Brooke Warren-Foley of South Carolina, daughter Leah Foley and boyfriend Kory of NH, and grandson Connor Foley. He is also survived by his mother Marcia Foley, siblings Michael Foley and his wife Gail, James “Jim” Foley and his wife Amy, Mark Foley, and Tricia Foley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and Godchildren that he loved dearly. He is also survived by extended family, sister-in-law, Lisa Mariani Anderson, brother-in-law and partner-in-crime, David Anderson, niece, Molly Anderson and her finance, Chris, and nephew, Matthew Anderson, his wife, Amanda and their twin boys. He was predeceased by his father Bernard Foley and sister Arlene Roux. His sister Arlene died 7 weeks prior to Steven’s diagnosis with the same rare cancer.
