Violet Sue Clifton Obituary

Violet (Vi) Sue Mallett Clifton, 79, of Cumberland, went to be with God on September 12, 2021. Vi was born October 7, 1941, in Trail Run, Ohio. She was a daughter of the late Albert “Boots” and Sophie (Valentine) Mallett.

Vi was a stay-at-home Mom for many years and then returned to the workforce and retired from LDM Technologies after 15 years of service. After restless retirement, she bartended at VFW Post 8040. She was Methodist by faith and a 1959 graduate of Buffalo High School. She was a life member of VFW Post 8040 and Eagles Aerie 386, and the High Hill Sportsman Club. She enjoyed gardening and jigsaw puzzles and living in Sarasota, FL for ten years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Clifton whom she married October 26, 1962, and passed away October 24, 2006; two half-brothers, Dewey, and Raymond Mallett; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert Clifton, Robert Rossiter, Richard and Patricia Clifton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two loving daughters, Lucinda (Dana) Swope of Zanesville, and Valerie (Gary) Taylor of Cumberland; two step-sons David (Mary)Clifton of Claysville, Charles Clifton of Cambridge; two step-daughters Debra (Marty) Price of Cambridge, Barbara Whittle of Claysville; two sisters Patricia Rossiter and Shirley Adams both of Byesville; grandchildren Andrea (Alex) Rusnak, Dana Christine Swope, eleven step-grandchildren; one great grandson Maddox Rusnak; 10 step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and brother and sister-in-law Jack and Bonny Clifton of Stockport, Ohio.

The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 12 p.m to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where services will follow at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
