Kenneth Ray Rogers Obituary

Kenneth Rogers, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at his home after an extended illness of lung cancer.

He was a lifelong resident of Robbinsville, NC, and was a member and Deacon of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Robbinsville.

Kenneth, his wife and their children sang in many churches over his life span.  He also sang with many of his friends over the years.  He spent his life in the service of his Lord and Savior.  He also wrote many songs that were inspired by God.

He was a truck driver for 30 years, selling drill bits and equipment to road construction jobs.  After his retirement from driving, he worked at Stanley Furniture until it closed.

Kenneth was married to his sweetheart, Kathleen, for 62 years.  In addition to raising their own 3 children, they provided a home to numerous children over the years.  Their door was always open to anyone in need.  If anyone in the community needed help, he was always there to help in whatever way was needed.  No one was ever turned away.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Carpenter Rogers, his son, Keith Rogers of the home, his son and daughter in law, Dale and Pam Rogers of Robbinsville, NC, his daughter and son in law, Karen and Darrell Roberts of Robbinsville, NC, and his sisters, Bea Carpenter of Robbinsville, NC, and Jean Mabry of Conley Springs, NC.  His grandchildren are Kevin Roberts, Daniel Roberts, James Rogers, April Moorefield, Rachel Harris, Matthew Smith, and Becky Smith, and his great-grandchildren are, Gabriel Lopez, Deron Roberts, Ariana Roberts, Jessica Collet, Heidi Burch, David Burch, Cyrus Moorefield, Paityn Moorefield, Cayden Rogers, Tyler Holland, Precious Harris, Bree Smith, Eve Smith, and Naomi Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gudger and Alma Almond Rogers, his brothers, E.T. Rogers, Boyce Rogers, Vaughn Rogers, Rayburn Rogers and Kohn Rogers, and his grandson, Joshua Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Blessed Hope Baptist Church.  Reverend Kevin Crane will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Thursday at the Church, prior to the service.  Burial will follow at West Cemetery.

Due to the risk of COVID 19, facial coverings and social distancing are required for those attending the service.
