Jeannette B Emmons Obituary

On Tuesday, August 21, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital located in New Brunswick NJ, Jeannette Bernice Emmons, daughter of the late Bernice Emmons and Jeptha Mornan,  and was called by God the Father to her eternal home. She was surrounded by her daughters, and Grandchildren.

Jeannette also known as “Jenny” was born November 7, 1962, at Saint Peters Hospital in New Brunswick NJ; and was the youngest amongst four siblings. She received her education from the New Brunswick public school system until moving to South Plainfield where she received her High School Diploma from. Post-graduation she worked at a bank for several years, but nothing fulfilled her with joy the way doing hair did, so she began working at a salon. Jeanette began doing hair as a child, so it was inevitable for her to become a hairstylist in which she continued to do her entire adult life.

Jeannette was raised in Christian households and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age so the belief in God stayed with her throughout her life. In 1993 Jeannette became the 1st member of Restoration Baptist Church where John Bazemore resided over as the Pastor.  Jeannette served as a faithful member throughout her entire adult life. It was imperative that she instilled the word of God into her children and evangelize to others whenever she had the opportunity to do so. Jeannette experienced an ample number of trials and tribulations throughout her life; but she never wavered, never gave up, and always remained a steward of the Lord. She worked extremely hard to become the woman she became and was at the best time in her life mentally and spiritually when she was called home.

Jeannette had five amazing, beautiful, handsome, loving, kind children Antoinette, Jahnell, Eleena, Samone, and Jaylon  with Andrew Gordon ; that she loved dearly.

Jeannette was an amazing, intelligent, loving, kind, giving, selfless woman that dedicated her life serving the Lord and trying to be the best woman and mother she could be for her Children. The love she had for her Children and Grandchildren was unmatched and like no other. She was an avid reader that loved music, singing, writing, and poetry. The Queen of Games, she reigned supreme when playing card games, Family Feud, Pac-Man or Backgammon. Jeannette was a great hostess when entertaining family and friends during a family gatherings. She loved to cook and was especially known for the amazing meals she prepared. Jeannette showed her love for people through the food she prepared. Anyone that knew her or lived close to her knew that if she was cooking, they were eating whether there was enough food or not; she would always make it enough.

Jeannette truly had a charitable heart as her doors were always open to family members that needed a place to stay or in need of a hot meal. It was Jeanette’s loving heart, the God in her, empathy and compassion towards others that made her willing to give her last to a person in need. Jeannette did not give because she had much but because she knew what it was like to have nothing.

Jeannette was preceded by her parents Bernice Emmons, Jeptha Mornan; and sister Jacklyn Smith.

Jeannette leaves to cherish her bond, love for God, her children and loving memories: four daughters Antoinette Gordon, Jahnell Gordon, Eleena Gordon and Samone Gordon; one son Jaylon Rosamilia, three grandchildren Madison E. Gordon-Vanliew, Forrest M Gordon-Vanliew Jr, and Major M Vanliew; one brother Tyrone Emmons; two sisters Brenda Emmons; and Shirley Phillips; one niece and four nephews; Shanika Emmons, Tyrone Emmons, Alonzo Phillips, Khalif Phillps and Gregory Smith; Son In Law , Tunde Dada
